Temp: 21°C air - 25°C track
Length: 7,004 m
After an exciting recovery, Triple H Team Hegersport's Maserati MC12 no. 33 nabbed second place at the Spa Championship Race, just behind Zonta/Kechele's Lamborghini no. 25. After yesterday's recovery in the Qualifying Race, Mueller/Heger, the duo of German drivers - who started off from twelfth place - attained a final second place today, taking full advantage of the car's great reliability and an excellent pit stop. This'll be Altfrid Heger's second consecutive podium position after his third place in Paul Ricard.
Vitaphone Racing Team's two Maserati MC12s also performed well. The Bernoldi/Ramos duo, who started off from eleventh place, was able to recover up to fourth place, behind Westbrook/Mutsch in Ford GT Matech no. 5.
Bartels/Bertolini's Maserati MC12 no. 1 came in in seventh place. The car started off from the back of the group due to yesterday's forced withdrawal from the Qualifying Race, the Vitaphone Racing Team's champion drivers raced earnestly and aggressively. Thanks to a perfect pit stop and the safety car's appearance for a few laps, Bartels and Bertolini were able to recover many positions, earning important points that will let them keep their leadership in the drivers' standings.
Triple H Team Hegersport's Belgian drivers, Longin/Verdonck, were just behind them, thus rounding out a positive racing day for the Trident's cars, which all earned points.
Next round: 29 August at the Nuerburgring (Germany) racetrack.
